also undertook the move) - I've just had it so easy with Vox, I'd
like to keep using it but have my own domain now and want the
possibility of having ads down the line.

Wordpress isn't too difficult, certainly easier than typepad.

If you're going that route you should be looking at hosting to give yourself all the options.
